Do you want to be Hot, Rich & Green? Here’s a book for you!
They started with an international list of 200 women - ladies who are contributing great things to the environmental space and impacting millions of women across the globe - and narrowed it down to 50.
These 50 green women are now a part of a book that was originally entitled “the most powerful women in the green economy”, but the publisher wanted something more catchier… and finally decided on “Hot, Rich and Green”
Livingwell publishing is on a mission as to show the world that hot green girls are on the move and ….. on the rise. The author Rebecca Harrell Tickel had opened up her Rolodex as to invite ladies such as Alexandra Cousteau, Mariel Hemingway and Ed Begley’s wife to share their secrets, their trials and tribulations, their successes and their “Aha” moments in the green market space, with other women. Nine steps is what is needed to make it in Sustainability land! These steps are : discover your passion, find your voice, fill the gap, get a mentor or coach, think outside the box, don’t do it all yourself, hit the ground running and don’t look back, view your failures as lessons to success and be flexible.
I am a part of the flexibility step, and I am aware that being flexible is probably one of my greatest assets. That and being curious, engaged to make a difference, creative, sincere, hard working and so on. You’ll find lot’s of good tools and even more inspiration in this guide. I highly recommend it.
I had met Rebecca in 2008, during the first edition of the GoGreenExpo, as I premiered the documentary called FUEL in the special Sustainable Planet film festival screening I had put together for its founder Bradford Rand. Rebecca was the producer of this Academy Award shortlisted and Sundance audience award winning movie and seemed quite ready to show the world she was hot, rich and green herself.
Two years later, she launched a new project: a book as to help women be motivated in making a career move.
I was asked to answer Questions such as :
A. What specific actions have you taken to express your voice or become a leader in your area of the environmental movement and in your business? What steps are more beneficial than others?
B. What makes your business unique? What tips can you give to other women on how to think outside the box whether for the business concept itself or in the way they market it so as to avoid “green fatigue”?
C. Do you notice differences between the way that men and women speak about and relate to money? If so - do you think this has something to do with the large discrepancy in income brackets between men and women?
First via phone and then on-camera in Malibu beach, as a DVD project is in the works as well.
I will share more on that component of Rebecca’s project in the future, but for now, there is already her book!
